International leaders from across the maritime value chain will convene in New York City on 22-23 September 2022 to tackle the most pressing issues facing the industry and society as a whole. The meeting will take place in conjunction with the UN General Assembly that is scheduled for the same week.

Geopolitical conflict, supply chain disruptions, as well as the urgent need for climate action and to ensure human sustainability both at sea and on shore will have profound ramifications for the maritime industry and for global trade for years to come. At the Global Maritime Forum’s Annual Summit 2022 in New York, leaders and stakeholders from across the maritime value chain and beyond will work together to understand these challenges and to generate ideas for practical actions that can help shape the future of global seaborne trade to increase sustainable long-term economic development and human wellbeing.

“The last two years we have seen dramatic changes: a global pandemic, the urgency of the climate crisis, and now a full-scale war on European soil leading to unbearable human suffering and economic uncertainty. These events will have a profound impact on the maritime industry and the people who work in and depend on it. Our ambition for this year’s Annual Summit is to bring leaders together to better understand, collaborate, and act on these challenges – it is needed now more than ever,” says Chief Executive Officer at the Global Maritime Forum, Johannah Christensen.

This year’s Annual Summit will also take stock of the progress made since the Global Maritime Forum’s Annual Summit 2021 in London; the outcomes of this meeting are summarized in the Annual Summit report 2021.

“We look forward to once again convening engaged industry leaders, policymakers, experts, NGOs, and other influential decision-makers and opinion shapers committed to finding solutions to the challenges that will define our future and that require collaborative efforts from all stakeholders in the value chain to drive the needed change,” says Peter Stokes, Chair of the Global Maritime Forum.

The Global Maritime Forum’s Annual Summit is hosted in cities around the world on a rotational basis.
